He Liked It, So He Put a Ring On It!

I feel like the luckiest girl! New Year's 2009 was the best to date and so far my year has started off great - TG proposed to me shortly after midnight, I accepted, and I look forward to being his wife, celebrating our relationship, and having a marriage. 2009 is going to be an exciting year and I have so much to look forward to - I look forward to it all.

TG proposed to me the same place we met - nearly the exact same place we met. I remember the music, the balloons, the words, his face and the kiss - quite possibly the best kiss to date! If we thought we were a little tipsy prior to the ball dropping we really celebrated after! We toasted each other with a couple shots (pornstars - appropriate, no?!) and kept drinking until we were ready to go after 1 am. I am not going to lie, I was a little rough the next morning but I had the most amazing dream in my drunken sleep and slowly it is coming true!
(The next morning we confirmed that we were indeed engaged and chilled out all day before starting to share the good news with our family)

It was a little surreal - I wondered if it was going to feel different and it really does. We shopped for the ring together and had a lot of luck and very little stress. My ring is not what I thought I liked from looking in the cases nor what I thought I would end up wearing forever. I had never tried on an engagement ring and never really hinted at TG as to what I liked. It is fair to say that we had different tastes...until I tried them on. I got a simple, timeless and classic solitaire with a brushed band in white gold. I tried it on eager to see what else there was and when I put it back on it felt like it was mine - we both love it.

That all I have to report on the Mano/TG front for now - there are lots of considerations to make and I look forward to sharing the appropriate details with our family and friends.

What else is new? In case you didn't notice I was MIA for a while...for a lot of reasons, but mostly cause I was lazy and pretty boring that last couple months.
Some awesome things to note:
  • My friend is expecting her baby "B" later this spring - I am so happy for her!
  • Two of my other friends got engaged prior to the holidays and I am thrilled for them - they were meant for each other and deserve all the good things to come (that's what she said...!).
  • This holidays were especially good - busy, fun and relaxing with minimal family drama. Keeps me optimistic.
  • TG and I got tickets to the 2009 TFC season - I am excited for the packages we got even though we had to buy Marlie tix in order to secure seats. MLSE - I feel little scammed, screw you.
  • I lost weight over the holidays - what?! That's right - LOST! I am kinda pumped and the new motivation I have now will keep me focused - got a little way to go yet and look forward to achieving my goal.
  • We got a plasmaTV - it is just sweet! Everything is better and TG totally deserved it. Aside from all the blu-ray and HD coolness we were really able to step up our Wii tennis game and now kick some major Mii ass.
  • Work is a bit of a drag for both TG and I - it is tolerable and I am hopeful that 2009 will bring about good things career-wise for us both.
  • Winter and snow is balls.
Happy New Year and I hope to update this a little bit more so that I suck a little less.

I will leave you with a little quote that I carry in my planner and wrote in a card to TG once:

"Love is a thing...like quicksand; the more you are in it, the deeper you sink. When it hits you, you've just got to fall."
